Who We Are

Our Vision

A world in which everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Who We Serve

Buckeye Ridge Habitat for Humanity serves four counties, Marion, Morrow, Wyandot and Hardin, that are connected geographically.  Therefore, we make it our mission to find out the specific needs of the residents we serve.

We are a global brand under the umbrella of Habitat for Humanity International, but the individual affiliates (us!) serve their communities locally with individual boards and staff.  This gives us the unique experience of developing personalized relationships where we can mentor families individually.  Not every family’s needs are the same, which means the paths we take together, toward home ownership, may be different with each family.  We believe this sets us apart from other organizational models, because poverty wears many different faces and when we are open to giving a voice to those we serve, we find success!

History

Buckeye Ridge

The Habitat for Humanity affilate for Marion, Ohio was founded in 1993. At that time, its primary focus was constructing new homes, and the all-volunteer affiliate built 30 homes by 2016.

That year, the Marion affiliate merged with the affiliates of Morrow and Hardin counties in efforts to expand the organizations' influence and coordinate resources and projects. Shortly after that merge, and with the help and passion of citizens of Wyandot County, the newly-merged Habitat for Humanity group expanded its reach into Wyandot County.

Now serving four distinct counties, the organization officially changed its name to "Buckeye Ridge" to reflect the larger region in which it operates. No longer focusing solely on new builds, Buckeye Ridge's larger size and greater resources allow us to complete renovations, advocate for better affordable housing, aid in neighborhood revitalization, and, of course, operate our ReStore.

Habitat for Humanity International

Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. Today, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.

Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem—to provide decent housing for all. Since its inception, Habitat for Humanity has built or repaired over 1 million homes, serving more than 5 million people worldwide.

Non-Proselytizing Policy

Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations will not proselytize. Nor will HFH work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with HFH. This means that HFH will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
